Planning Board Meeting

WEDDINGTON, NC. July 24th, 2023. Liberty Classical Academy presented at the planning board meeting for a discussion and recommendation of a conditional zoning application associated with parcels located at 145 S. Providence Road and 154 Weddington Rd. In conclusion, they were asked to return to the planning board again after additional traffic impact analysis information is gathered and shared.

The following points highlight the overall consensus of the board, shared during comments:

• Sounds like a great idea but the location does not seem right.

• Would not primarily serve our town and could potentially detract from the excellent and desirable schools we currently have.

• No access to sewer at this property and concerns regarding the proposed lift station that would be required.

• Would bring significant out-of-town traffic that would negatively impact our roads and increase roadway congestion.

• Little to no economic benefit to our town.
