Why do you want to be the Mayor of your municipality?

A recent push to change Weddington’s form of government and promote unhealthy growth threatens to compromise our town’s future success. These decisions highlight a concerning disconnect between our current leadership and each of us they represent. Having a mayor who prioritizes each resident and makes wise decisions to benefit the future of our town is what motivates me to run.

How long have you been living in your municipality and what do you like or love about it?

Weddington has excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and low taxes. This is what brought my wife and I here from Waxhaw last year. As a North Carolina native and police officer, I understand our state and area well. If we give in to pressures for unhealthy growth, we could quickly lose what we love if we don’t protect what we have.

In what way do you think your municipality can be improved?

I believe the level of confidence and trust we have in our local leaders can be improved in Weddington. Several recent decisions have not been in line with our town’s values nor the desires of our residents. Engaging and understanding those we serve while following our town’s guiding principles will bring much-desired transparency and improvement.

What do you want the residents of your municipality to know about you?

Earning Eagle Scout set the foundation for my passion to serve. Throughout my life I’ve led in my church, taught personal finance, served on my bank’s advisory board, and gained valuable experience during my professional career. Leading and helping others as a police officer has given me skills and prepared me well to serve as the next mayor of Weddington.

As Mayor, what role do you believe you can play that can make your municipality a better place for your residents?

As Mayor, I will always be a strong advocate for each person in Weddington. Being accessible and connecting at a personal level with those I serve. Listening and understanding will guide wise decisions that will benefit us all and continually improve the quality of life for everyone in our town. Placing the residents first will lead us to greater success.
